Biofilm Test Facility

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen

What we do

At the Biofilm Test Facility we offer specialized and custom made evaluation of medical device biofilms and anti-microbials.

We test and visualize compounds, coatings, dressings, etc. in relevant models for biofilm killing and inhibition. We have access to all clinical relevant bacterial strains and routinely run biofilm assays on S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, S. epidermidis and P. acnes. We engage all projects from single tests to large preclinical trials and we have the resources to commence most projects immediately.

Who we are

We are an independent Biofilm Test Facility at University of Copenhagen. Our research groups at the University (Costerton Biofilm Centre) and at the Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet) have been investigating bacterial biofilms for 15 years and are regarded as a globally leading institution and pioneers in the field.

At the Biofilm Test Facility we have a state-of-the-art research facility, including animal stables and the large Core Facility for Integrated Microscopy with a wide range of new light and electron microscopes: www.cfim.ku.dk/equipment
